Yoga FAQs
What do I wear?
Loose fitting or stretchy, comfortable clothes. Loose fitting tops will need to be tucked in, also be aware that hooded tops can be annoying in some postures. The practice will be done in bare feet. Part of the practice may involve lying or sitting still for a little while so make sure you bring socks and a top to keep you warm, during this part of the practice.
What do I need to bring with me?
If you have one, please bring a non-slip yoga mat. I do have some available to buy if not.
Can I eat before the class?
Avoid eating a heavy meal for at least two hours before the class, but a light snack an hour or more before is usually fine.
How safe is yoga?
Yoga is safe as long as you treat it with respect and are realistic about your abilities. Never strain or force your body, none of the postures should be painful, if there is any pain at all in a posture, don't be proud, let me know - and I'll adjust the posture for you.
I have an injury can I still do yoga?
Yes, and the practice can be especially adapted to help support your recovery from that injury.
I'm pregnant, can I still do yoga?
It is not advisable to work with asana, the yoga postures, in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy but breathwork, meditation and relaxation techniques can be really beneficial in these early stages. After this point a specially thought out practice including modified asana, can help to support you through the remainder of your pregnancy.
